Are more older people looking at flats to rent?
There could be more people over the age of 25 looking for flats to rent in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, it has been suggested.
According to Emma Banks, a spokesperson for LV=, increasing numbers of individuals in their 30s and 40s are deciding to move in somewhere as a lodger.
She said this is very different to the 1960s, when most of the people renting a room were under the age of 25.
Similarly, the number of women choosing to become tenants instead of purchasing their own house is increasing, Ms Banks continued.
The expert stated since the 1980s, when 70 per cent of the people renting a room were male, there has been "a 25 per cent rise in the prevalence of female lodgers".
Recently released research from LV= revealed typical lodger landlords are middle-class couples in their 30s, making an average of £4,700 a year from renting rooms.
