Westminster council leader details future plans

Westminster council leader details future plansRegeneration and improvement were two of the key issues leader of Westminster City Council Colin Barrow discussed during a speech last week at the unveiling of the Marble Arch improvements project.

He gave an indication of what tenants of property to rent in Westminster, as well as people living in other types of home in the borough, can expect from their local authority in the coming years.

Mr Barrow said that the so-called "neat streets" scheme "will improve 400 streets over the next year and over 1,000 by the time the Olympics comes around [in 2012]".

He also suggested that the council aims to look after "businesses and residences alike during the recession".

Various other regeneration projects have also taken place in the last 12 months, he added.

The leader of the council was commenting one year on from being elected into the Westminster role.
