Railway project 'will rejuvenate Hackney'
A project to connect the new East London railway line to the existing network will result in eight trains per hour to the borough of Hackney, Transport for London (TFL) has stated.
Work to replace a Victorian bridge carrying Dalston Lane over the railway will allow for it to join the London Overground network when it opens next year.
Peter Richards, director of London Overground infrastructure at TFL, explained that residents will benefit from the service of new trains thanks to the £1 billion the body is investing in its construction.
"When the East London line opens as part of London Overground, this area will be rejuvenated by these new transport services," he said.
The work is due to begin on Saturday March 21st and will last for just over two months, during which time Dalston Lane will be restricted to one lane of traffic.
Last month Hackney Council announced that it is freezing the amount residents have to pay in council tax for the coming year.
