Youngsters to have their say on Twickenham's future
Young people living in flats to rent in the London borough of Richmond Upon Thames and other property in the area have been invited to share their views on the future of Twickenham.
Those who live, work, socialise or go to school in the area are being encouraged to have their say on the proposals outlined in the Twickenham Area Action Plan.
They will be able to voice their opinions on the matter at an event specifically organised for people aged between 11 and 19.
It will be held at Richmond Upon Thames College on the July 20th from 17:00-19:00 BST.
Those who attend will be able to see the plans and ask the consultants any questions that they have regarding the three improvement stages that have been proposed.
Councillor Christine Percival, Richmond Council's cabinet member for education, youth and children's services, stressed that thousands of young people use the area for one purpose or another and, therefore, it is important that they have the opportunity to help shape Twickenham's future.
"There is a great deal of inaccurate information doing the rounds at the moment and it is time that young people were given the facts," she added.
"The event at the college will give young people the opportunity to hear exactly what we are proposing, to ask questions, and to have their say," Ms Percival explained.
She went on to say that she hopes that youngsters will leave the event with a greater understanding of what the council is trying to achieve with the Twickenham Area Action Plan.
More information on the action plan can be found on Richmond Upon Thames' website.
Earlier this month, the young people that make up Team Richmond were crowned overall champions in the Balfour Beatty London Youth Games following the finals at Crystal Palace.
A record number of the borough's young sportspeople took home a gold medal.
