York Gardens Library reopens after £35,000 revamp
People living in property to rent in Battersea can visit York Gardens Library once again following its reopening today (November 1st).
Thanks to a £35,000 redevelopment programme, the library now boasts a dedicated children's library service, after school homework clubs, public-access IT and internet facilities, plus a small selection of books for adults and new community space.
Educational and leisure activities will also be held for young people in the evenings and on Saturdays.
Culture spokesman on the local council Jonathan Cook said: "Wandsworth has one of the best-run and most efficient library services in London. Unlike the majority of other councils in the capital that are now shutting their libraries, we are keeping all 11 of ours open.
"These modernisation and refurbishment works will breathe new life into York Gardens library and make it much more of a focal point for local children and for local community groups."
