Wandsworth residents 'pay lowest council tax in country'
Those living in property to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth are paying the lowest council tax rate in the country.
On March 9th, Wandsworth Councillors froze the tax for the fourth year in a row, meaning that the rate for the average Band D property will remain at £687 per year.
"Many years of prudent financial management have put us in a stronger position than many other local authorities, and have helped us keep our council tax low," explained deputy council leader Maurice Heaster.
He went on to say that the council needs to make savings of at least £55 million, but that it is trying to do so in such a way that has as little effect on frontline services in the borough as possible.
Last week, the council urged those living in houses and flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth to fill in their census forms so that the government can allocate the correct amount of funding to the area.
