Wandsworth receives grant fund for community projects
A grant fund for community projects has been made available to homeowners and those living in property to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth.
Part of the Wandsworth Challenge initiative, the Big Society Fund will support projects that are set up and run by local residents.
Groups of local people and small voluntary organisations will be able to apply for a share of the £169,000 fund.
Council leader Edward Lister said: "We want local people to think about projects, however modest in scale, that will tackle a local problem or make life better for the people in their community."
He went on to say that the funding will help to make changes for the better, but ultimately it is down to the public to make things happen.
Wandsworth Council also announced today (January 25th) that it has been awarded a £10,000 grant from the SITA Trust.
This is to be used to establish a new project space within the Pump House Gallery in Battersea Park.
