Wandsworth plans schools expansion
People seeking flats to rent in Wandsworth could be set to benefit from expanded provision of primary school places next year.
A consultation has been launched by Wandsworth Council on plans to add an extra 210 places each to Riversdale, West Hill, Hillbrook, Smallwood, Swaffield and Penwortham Primary Schools.
The purpose of these proposals is to meet growing demand for school places in these areas where action is most needed, while providing parents with greater choice over where their children can enrol.
It comes after the local authority recently announced plans to convert the disused Putney Hospital into a new state primary school, which will add another 420 places.
Kathy Tracey, Wandsworth Council's schools spokesperson, said: "Wandsworth is an extremely popular place to bring up children and the demands on our school system continue to rise."
Last week, it was announced that the St Mary's RC primary school in Battersea has received a new injection of funding from the Evening Standard newspaper that will help to raise educational standards at the site.
