Wandsworth motorists complete vehicle emissions tests
More than 70 motorists living in flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth and other property in the area took advantage of vehicle emissions tests recently.
These free tests were carried out by the council's environmental initiatives team over two days in the Sainsbury's car park on Garratt Lane and Asda car park in Clapham Junction.
They were part of an ongoing campaign to raise awareness of air pollution and improve the quality of the air in the area.
Only four of the 76 vehicles tested were found to be in breach of regulations.
Councillor Sarah McDermott, executive member for environment and culture, said: "It's terrific to see so many conscientious drivers taking up the offer of a free exhaust check, and all the more pleasing to find out so few actually failed."
Last week, Wandsworth Council put pressure on South West Trains to introduce longer trains on local routes that are becoming increasingly congested.
