Tenants could consider gas service this Christmas
Britons planning to move into a rented property ahead of Christmas may wish to make sure that all of its gas kitchen and heating appliances have been fully serviced.
According to Gas Safe Register, this is an important step to take as it can help to keep the household and any visitors safe from the potential threat of a carbon monoxide leak, fire or explosion.
Indeed, the register asserts that in the last year, 18 people have died as a result of a gas incident, while a further 310 had to be hospitalised.
Peter Eldridge, chief executive of Gas Safe Register, said: "With all the other things to think about and organise during the festive season, it's perhaps not surprising that gas safety can get overlooked. However, if your gas appliances aren't working properly this can put your home and your family at risk."
Britons looking for flats to rent in Fulham or another part of London should ask their landlord to show them the property's gas safety certificate if they wish to have the peace of mind that all appliances have been recently serviced.
