Royal wedding parties 'free to arrange in Wandsworth'
Wandsworth Council has confirmed that there will be no charges for people wishing to close streets for royal wedding parties.
In news which may interest those living in flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth, the local authority announced a series of measures to help communities celebrate big events together.
Residents wanting to throw a party to mark the big day of Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29th will not have to pay for the council's engineers to close their streets.
In addition, it will be free for people to arrange bashes in honour of the Queen's diamond jubilee next year.
The council also revealed that the charge for arranging a street party in the borough has been cut to just £50, while the red tape surrounding the application process has been reduced.
Council leader Edward Lister commented: "Street parties are a great way of bringing communities together and helping people get to know their neighbours."
Earlier this month, Barking & Dagenham Council encouraged local residents to hold street parties to mark St George's Day on April 23rd.
