Results of Croydon libraries consultation published
The results of a consultation into the future of Croydon's libraries have been published.
More than 6,300 people living in flats to rent in the London borough of Croydon and other property in the area responded to the consultation questionnaire.
The initial analysis of these figures shows that the majority of those who completed the survey were regular library users.
These people expressed strong views in favour of keeping their local book-lending services open.
Councillor Sara Bashford, cabinet member for customer services, culture and sports, said: "I'd like to say thanks to the thousands of people who have taken part, because we're now in a position to build up a full and detailed picture of what our next steps should be."
She went on to say that the consultation has shown the council that there is a high level of support in the borough for keeping as many branches open as possible.
Last week, the council announced that Thornton Heath and Croydon Central libraries are to offer sessions to those living in property to rent in the London borough of Croydon who want to learn how to use the internet.
