Olympic torch to stop in Wandsworth
People living in flats to rent in the London borough of Wandsworth may be able to catch a glimpse of the Olympic Torch next July.
The London Olympic Games Organising Committee (Locog) has announced that the torch will come to Tooting on July 23rd 2012.
It is likely that the torch will pass through a large part of the borough, but its exact route is not yet known.
"Details of the evening celebration are still in the early planning stages, but it will be a free event and will feature a range of music and other entertainment," a statement from Wandsworth Council reads.
The council is encouraging local residents to nominate people from the borough to carry the torch.
Earlier this month, Locogformally announced that planning had begun for the London-Surrey Cycle Classic.
This event is due to go through the middle of Putney on August 14th of this year.
