Merton residents to name Rowan Park development
Those living in property to rent in the London borough of Merton are being asked to come up with a name for a new development in their area.
The name will cover the streets and buildings within the new Rowan Park development in Mitcham.
All of the suggestions submitted need to relate either to a person who has done great things for the local community or one who lived in the area but died more than 25 years ago.
The new development is to include 217 homes, a NHS health facility, a scout hall, community centre and a park with play facilities.
Councillor Andrew Judge, Merton Council's cabinet member for environmental sustainability and regeneration, said: "Including residents in the naming of new streets and buildings is a great example how residents can contribute to a part of Merton's history."
Last month, Merton Council called for entries to the 2011 Civic Awards, which will rewarding the outstanding achievements of individuals and groups in the borough.
