Funding for Richmond pavement repairs announced
Councillors have announced that it is to spend more money on repairing pavements around property to rent in the London borough of Richmond-upon-Thames.
The council is to spend an extra £200,000 on improving pavements in the area.
This not only means the existing programme for footpath upgrades will be carried out more quickly, but that more streets will be added to the improvement list.
It is hoped that the programme will start before the end of this month and will run throughout the rest of the year.
Councillor Clare Head, Richmond Council's cabinet member for traffic, said: "This is good news for households on the roads most in need of repair, but people should not expect every single pavement to be resurfaced."
She explained that there are 2,000 pavements in the borough in total and it would be "impractical" to replace them all, given the council's budget.
Earlier this month, the new Teddington school in Richmond-Upon-Thames was officially opened by Vince Cable MP following a complete redevelopment.
