Clapham Junction plans unveiled
New plans have been unveiled that may make the Battersea area a more attractive one for people to rent homes in.
Metro Shopping Fund, a joint venture by land Securities and Delancey, has submitted plans to Wandsworth borough council for a new development in the district at Clapham Junction railway station, Property Week reports.
It would include 250,000 sq ft of retail space, a rooftop garden, an arthouse cinema and 556 new homes.
The managing director of Land Securities' retail portfolio Richard Akers said: "It is a great opportunity to lay the foundations to deliver a development of high quality design and excellent sustainability credentials, which will improve the area for everyone."
Clapham Junction station may not be the only well-known Battersea location to be in line for new facilities.
Earlier this month Architects' Journal reported that the site is in the running to become the new home of a replica of the iconic Powell and Moya's Skylon, which was first built in the 1951 Festival of Britain.
