Adding the personal touch
More people are making moves to add a personal touch to their properties, as they opt to stay in their homes for longer, rather than moving up the property ladder, one sector commentator has claimed.
George Clarke, presenter of Build a New Life and Channel 4's The Home Show, said that people "really" wanted to make their homes more of a reflection of their own lives - and people who rent may wish to do the same.
Indeed, those on the lookout for flats to rent in Wandsworth or other parts of London may wish to ask their landlords if they can put their own stamp on the decor of their new home.
This may be particularly advisable if the current conditions of the housing market have put them off from buying a house in the near future.
The recent Halifax Home Improvement Survey revealed that redecorating is the UK's favourite DIY pastime.
