Will less crime make flats to rent in London desirable?
A decrease in knife crime could make flats to rent in London more attractive to people.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson visited Croydon to talk about the success of policing in the capital, leading to the lowest murder rate since 1978.
He said Londoners have come a long way in making "this fantastic city" safer than it had been when he came to power in 2008.
"I am not complacent for one minute and know there is a lot more to be done but I know that with the right focus and resources, we can get a grip on crime and violence," he added.
Over 2,000 police and community support officers are dedicated to the public transport networks throughout the capital and incidents on buses are down by eight per cent this year, with only 11 crimes per million passengers.
Nearly 10,000 knives have been confiscated as part of Operation Blunt 2, which saw more than 1,200 people arrested in its first month.
