Carrie-esque London ladies likely to rent property
Increasing numbers of women in the capital are living "Sex and the City lifestyles" and more likely to rent London property, new research reveals.
A study by Friends Provident, which questioned women aged 25 to 45, shows that most women who live in London resemble Carrie, the apartment-renting main character of the hit US television show.
The study's findings indicate that while 32 per cent of women in London own 30 pairs of shoes or more, less than half (46 per cent) own their own home.
In order to save up for those sought-after heels, 29 per cent of London ladies have sacrificed lunches or coffee, 32 per cent have reduced their socialising and 11 per cent have forgone a holiday.
The study also found that Samanthas are most likely to live in Wales, Mirandas in Scotland and Charlottes in the South-east.
Christine O'Grady, senior retail media relations executive at Friends Provident, commented: "The UK is full of women living the Sex and the City lifestyle, yet many of them are doing so by gambling with the future."
