Winter fuel bills 'will rise'
Britons who have chosen property to rent in London as a means of saving money during the credit crunch may be glad they did so, after it was revealed fuel bills may be slightly higher this winter.
According to uSwitch.com, while energy prices are not likely to increase as a result of the seasonal cold snap - which has seen London and the rest of the UK experience its deepest snow falls in decades – energy bills will be higher.
This could be a result of people turning up their central heating to combat the cold, with the price comparison site advising people to prepare for bills which are around £60 higher than usual.
Tom Lyon, energy expert at uSwitch.com, said: "Higher demand because of sub zero temperatures and the current rationing of energy to certain businesses does not mean suppliers will need to increase household energy prices."
Britons looking for flats to rent in Blackheath or another part of London may wish to ensure they have money saved to cover the cost of their first energy bills after they move in.
