TfL draws up shortlist for Woolwich scheme
Transport for London (TFL) has drawn up a shortlist of four potential developers to take on regeneration work in Woolwich, which will focus on improving transport infrastructure.
Berkeley Homes, Cathedral Group, First Base and Oakmayne Properties Regeneration are the leading candidates to buy and redevelop three station sites in the south-eastern suburb of the capital.
Totalling 1.3 acres, with space for up to 300 new homes, the three sites will form part of an extension of the Docklands Light Railway.
Consultation is underway between the London borough of Greenwich, the Woolwich Regeneration Agency and Design for London, using plans mapped out by Glenn Howell Architects and Urban Initiatives.
Property consultant DTZ will advice in the disposal process, in what is the first major project for TFL's new corporate finance development team.
"The aim has been to make a design-led approach to the procurement process, ensuring that the end development has a positive effect on the regeneration of Woolwich town centre," said Matthew Hudson, director of corporate finance property development at TFL.
He promised that the winning bidder would deliver "a scheme of exceptional quality, in line with the mayor's agenda".
A decision is expected to be made by the end of June this year.
