Property south of the river faring well
The value of property for sale in London may be sinking, but according to Hamptons areas south of the river are weathering the storm well.
Issuing its latest study into the affordability of London property, the Estate Agent found that eight out of the ten top performing postcodes can be found south of the River Thames.
Fashionable areas such as Camberwell (SE5) and Battersea (SW11) have reportedly seen the healthiest house price growth - returning 3.9 per cent and 3.4 per cent spikes respectively.
But even districts further afield have succeeded in bucking the current downturn, with Wimbledon (SW19), Crystal Palace (SE19) and Sydenham (SE26) all notching up two per cent growth or more.
Overall, however, Hamptons revealed that house price growth in the capital has screeched to a halt - reaching just 0.1 per cent over the last quarter - with most other reports suggesting it is already depreciating.
The average value of a home in London currently stands above the £400,000 mark, according to property website Rightmove.
