Property investors should 'do their research'
buy-to-let landlords who are looking for investment opportunities in the capital have been advised to research the market prior to expanding their portfolio.
While the current downturn in the market is creating ideal opportunities for savvy investors to snap up under-priced property, BuyAssociation.co.uk warned against rushing into new purchases.
Paul Collins, property editor at the website, emphasised that there are a swathe of considerations to bear in mind.
"You need to do lots of research," Mr Collins declared. "It's really about looking at the market and what's around it - particularly if you are buying in or near large towns."
He continued: "You need to be thinking about renting out and the type of people you will be renting it out to. In or near large towns, you are likely to be renting smaller properties because you will find young professionals and young couples."
Nationwide's latest House Price Index found that house price growth slowed across the UK, though London remains the most expensive region.
