Property changes in Tower Hamlets
Work to develop the Ocean Estate in Tower Hamlets started yesterday, with new properties set to be built and renovation on current housing stock in the pipeline.
People looking for flats to rent in Tower Hamlets may wish to follow the developments at the site, which have been described as part of a "significant regeneration programme".
Residents have been working with the council to help shape the future of this part of East London.
Talking yesterday, lead member for housing and development at Tower Hamlets Council Marc Francis said that the early demolition work at the site marks a "significant milestone" in the Ocean's history.
"Residents and external agencies have been working towards this day for nearly a decade and it's encouraging to see the results of this hard work start to take shape before our eyes," he added.
Tower Hamlets is one of the areas set for major changes ahead of the 2012 Olympic Games, which will be taking place in London.
