Olympic legacy plans outlined
Plans for the development of the Olympic Park for use after the 2012 London Games have been outlined.
Mayor Boris Johnson, along with communities secretary Hazel Blears and Olympics minister Tessa Jowell, unveiled the proposals following consultation with the five host boroughs.
In addition to sporting facilities, three new primary schools and a secondary school are set to be built, while 10,000 homes are to be constructed.
And with 10,000 additional jobs intended to be created, the mayor welcomed the clear outline for a successful legacy to be ensured.
"We plan to use the investment in new transport, new infrastructure and new world class facilities as the backbone of a fantastic new place to live, study, work and visit," he remarked.
The public is now being invited to share its views on the Legacy Masterplan Framework through a six-week consultation.
Last week the government announced that a new company would be set up to ensure London benefits as much as possible in the aftermath of the Olympics.
