New Tenant Check service for landlords
A new service which would allow landlords to check the references of potential tenants has been launched by the National Landlords Association (NLA).
NLA Tenant Check gives landlords the opportunity to confirm certain personal details about people who want to rent out their properties, such as their place of employment.
This should help to guarantee that the tenants will be able to pay the rent and not leave the landlord out of pocket.
David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, said that the tool is easy to use and reasonably priced and would be a good investment for landlords who are keen not to lose money from unpaid rent.
He explained: "By simply entering a few details about a new tenant into the system, the landlord will be given a profile of that person's credit history which will them to make an informed decision about their ability to keep up with rental payments."
The NLA says that resolving a situation where a tenant has not paid rent can frequently take up to six months.
