New student homes rejected by H&F council
The planning applications committee at Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) council has rejected plans to build new student properties at the Nomis Studios site in the borough's Sinclair Road.
Youngsters looking for property to rent in Fulham or flats to rent in Hammersmith will have to look into other options such as enquiring about homes owned by private landlords in the area.
Windows overlooking neighbouring properties and other design faults were part of the justification offered in not allowing this new development.
The accommodation did not meet the necessary requirements for the H&F borough, according to the local authority.
Councillor Alex Chalk, chairman of the planning applications committee, said: "This development had been ill-thought-out with little regard for local residents."
Such a high number of units could not be permitted in a residential street, he added.
London is home to many students and suitable housing can be found in most boroughs including Islington and Westminster.
