Landlords associations announce merger
The National Landlords Association (NLA) and the National Federation of Residential Landlords (NFRL) have revealed that they are to merge.
More than 20,000 people with flats to rent in London and elsewhere will be served by the conglomerated organisation, making it the UK's largest representative body for landlords.
Despite retaining the name of dominant group the NLA, the new link-up will result in an expanded provision of products and services for professional buy-to-let investors.
It also comes at a time when the industry faces some of its most pressing challenges ever, with the property downturn not just boosting tenant demand but also driving up landlords' costs.
David Salusbury, chairman of the NLA, commented: "The newly enlarged NLA is now the pre-eminent voice for the private-rented sector and this will mean increased commercial benefits to our members, but also a greater ability to influence policy at all levels.
"At a time of doom-mongering headlines about the housing market, this merger is good news for the entire private-rented sector."
