Haringey council reveals plans to tackle fuel poverty
Residents of property to rent in Haringey have been told by their local authority that plans are being put in place to help tackle fuel poverty this winter.
Although the weather is scorching hot at the moment and the Met Office has predicted one of the hottest London summers for some time, it is important to consider how temperatures can change when the holiday period comes to an end.
Haringey Council has therefore announced plans for the launch of the so-called Affordable Warmth Strategy, which identifies four main priorities to help give every resident the opportunity for a warm home.
Raising awareness and understanding of the problems of fuel poverty is just part of the programme, which will be rolled out in the autumn.
John Bevan, cabinet member for housing at Haringey Council, said: "A warm and welcoming home is essential for ensuring that residents enjoy good health and well-being, yet many people live in homes that they are unable to heat properly."
