Hammersmith & Fulham council tax to fall
Residents of the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham will benefit from a drop in council tax rates this year, it has been revealed.
London Councils has conducted a survey of local authorities in the capital, finding that the charge will drop by three per cent.
Several boroughs are also set to freeze council tax, making efficiency savings in order to offset the move.
Overall, the average increase in London will be less than half the national figure, at 1.2 per cent.
Commenting on the news, chair of the body Merrick Cockell remarked: "London's local authorities have led the country in delivering efficiency savings and value for money services - and have far exceeded any targets set for them by central government."
Kensington & Chelsea is also cutting its charge by way of providing a £50 efficiency dividend to all council tax payers.
Wandsworth Council - one of those to implement a tax freeze - recently noted that its charge is the lowest in the UK.
