Government invests in training for residents of property in Stratford
Investment in skills is helping Londoners find jobs during the economic downturn, the government has stated.
People living in property in the Docklands area and across the capital have been able to take advantage of a total £26.5 million worth of funding.
This included £11.5 million to help those who have been unemployed for more than six months, with the remainder being spent on training for residents who have lost their jobs or fear that they soon will.
Anyone choosing flats to rent in Stratford may be interested to note that Newham had the highest number of people achieving Train to Gain qualifications last year, with the total London figure rising from 6,100 in 2006-07 to 21,600 in 2008-07.
Skills secretary John Denham said that "real help" is being offered to people and businesses across the capital, adding: "We have acted to make sure that people have access to the skills and training they need to keep their jobs or get back into work."
Mayor Boris Johnson recently suggested that the Crossrail project will create up to 14,000 jobs.
