Bromley youngsters receive Duke of Edinburgh awards
Students living in houses and flats to rent in the London borough of Bromley have received their Duke of Edinburgh Awards.
The prizes were handed out by the mayor of Bromley, councillor George Taylor, in a special ceremony held at Bromley Civic Centre.
More than 300 young participants from 15 schools and youth clubs across the borough were honoured on the night.
Ernest Noad, Bromley Council's executive councillor for children and young people, said: "Duke of Edinburgh is a fantastic scheme and one of the best in the programme of opportunities which the council provides for Bromley's young people."
He went on to congratulate all of the young people involved, as well as their families and supporters and the leaders - "without whom none of this would be possible".
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award was created in 1956 and some 275,000 young people now take part in its events every year.
