Westminster residents get new market
Westminster city council hopes that then introduction of a new street market will help prompt local people into spending time shopping in the local area.
In a statement last week ahead of the launch of the Maida Hill Market in Harrow Road, the local authority said that services like this can convince residents to stay in the region.
People living in flats to rent in Westminster will be among those who will have easy access to the food stalls, which make up the borough's first regular market of this kind for 50 years.
The council said that the new market is part of a £1 million regeneration scheme and "which includes new paving, lighting, trees and seating areas and also boasts increased police patrols and extra CCTV to deter troublemakers".
Brian Connell, Westminster city council's cabinet member for economic development and family policy, said that he was "delighted" about the opening of the new market.
Residents of property to rent in Camden and flats to rent in Hackney also have famous markets in their communities.
