Travel support for those choosing property in St Johns Wood and across London
Half-price bus and tram travel has been extended to Londoners on Job Seekers Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance.
Those looking for flats to rent in St Johns Wood and other areas of the capital are set to benefit, as people who are unemployed receive the same concession as those on Income Support.
Mayor of London Boris Johnson explained that the step has been taken in order to help residents through the economic downturn, with Transport for London (TFL) working to help people who are struggling.
"At my request, TFL has introduced a number of targeted fares reductions and concessions to help those on low incomes who are feeling the impact most strongly," he said, adding that the measure will help residents travel to job interviews and job centres.
Around 150,000 are expected to benefit from the measure over the next year.
Last week, Mr Johnson stated that approximately 14,000 jobs will be created by the Crossrail construction project.
