Tips for a thrifty Christmas
Christmas is now only a few short weeks away and some people may be worrying how they will be able to fork out for gifts and celebratory occasions as the credit crunch rumbles on.
However, help is at hand from moneysupermarket.com, which recommends there are a number of thrifty steps Britons can take to see them enjoying a more affordable festive period.
The money advice group recommends avoiding store cards, as even if they appear to offer a good deal - such as money off - they are likely to be attached to high interest rates.
Furthermore, the group advises shopping around to find the best loan, while the internet could be a good place to turn in order to search out the best deals on different gift ideas.
Kevin Mountford, head of banking at moneysupermarket.com, said: "Christmas can be a difficult time of year financially and the current economic climate is not making things any easier."
Britons looking for flats to rent in Islington or another part of London may find that as this can be more affordable than paying for a mortgage, they have more money to splash this Christmas.
