Tidy gardens boost flat marketability
Having a well-kempt garden can boost the marketability of rented properties, buy-to-let landlords have been told.
People with property to rent in London and elsewhere are being advised to keep their gardens as trim as possible in order to boost the aesthetic appeal of their properties.
Lucy Hall, deputy editor of BBC Gardeners' World Magazine, said that looking after hedges and lawns is absolutely essential whether you are renting or selling a property.
She added: "In the back garden, a generous paved or decked area for outdoor dining is a must these days, as we're all increasingly moving our living space outside."
Families are also increasingly on the look-out for a "safe and private space" within their dwelling, Ms Hall added, regardless of whether the property is located in an urban or rural area.
According to recent research by Lloyds TSB, hot tubs, decking and water features are top three features Brits look for in their gardens.
