Thousands of Brits 'escaping neighbours from hell'
In the last two years, some 95,000 Britons have moved home because of their irritating neighbours, new research has found.
Nici Audhlam-Gardiner, director of Abbey Mortgages - which carried out the research - commented: "The saying 'love thy neighbour' seems long forgotten as so many of us plan to move each year just to get away from those next door."
In light of this, Britons could find that flats to rent in Islington or other parts of London offer them greater protection against annoying neighbours, as any trouble caused by fellow tenants could be reported to a landlord.
Other reasons given by Britons for moving over the last two years included the end of a relationship, bereavement, redundancy or financial difficulties or a need to downsize.
The Land Registry recently revealed that property prices around the UK - and particularly in the capital - were on the rise, which may be an additional motive to move into rented accommodation.
