TfL announces contract bidding process for West End station
Transport for London (TFL) has advertised the contract for the tender to carry out work around Tottenham Court Road Tube station for the Crossrail project.
Part of the undertaking will see the station redeveloped, which could be good news for anyone who regularly uses this station while renting a flat or house in Westminster or nearby Camden.
It will also involve tunnelling to create space for the new line itself.
Work is due to begin early next year on this part of the £16 billion project, which will see an east-west rail link across the capital in place and open in 2017.
The move follows the announcement by Crossrail earlier this month that the property acquisition notices required to enable the work to be carried out at the site have been issued.
In the statement it was revealed that the ticket hall at the station will be expanded to six times its current size.
