Teddington station readies for CPZ
The London suburb of Teddington, in the borough of Richmond, could see its rental property market boosted as London commuters flock to the area, drawn by an improved transport policy.
A controlled parking zone (CPZ) is set to be introduced next week around the busy Zone 6 station – which serves Waterloo, Richmond and other hubs – providing that the local council is in agreement.
Several roads around the station could fall within a restricted CPZ zone, if David Trigg, Richmond Council cabinet member for traffic, transport and parking, votes to permit the plans in streets adjacent to the station.
According to the Richmond and Twickenham Times, councillor James Mumford said: "At the moment the situation is pretty intolerable. We have had so many reports of people saying they have to park many roads from their homes.
"We consulted additional roads to give them the option of going into the zone at the start if they felt it would impact them."
Situated between Hampton Wick and Twickenham on the north bank of the Thames, Teddington is an attractive commuter area, but depends on strong and organised transport links to allow its residents reliable access to Central London.
