Richmond school rebuild 'gets go-ahead'
Leafy South-West London suburb Richmond could see its appeal to rental property seekers increase, as one of the area's secondary schools was given the green light for a complete rebuild, according to the Richmond and Twickenham Times.
The local paper claimed that a planning application for the demolition and complete re-build of Teddington School had been granted by Richmond Council, giving a boost to those with children in the area.
More than £32 million will reportedly be spent on a full upgrade of the Broom Road school, after the local council overruled concerns about the evening use of on-site multi-use sports facilities.
Richard Weeks, headmaster at the school, told the Richmond and Twickenham Times: "We have been through a lot, there have been times when I have worried about the design and our position within the local community, which I take very seriously.
"We have spent 18 months working, we got through a difficult phase and it makes all the hours worthwhile."
The desirable suburban area of Richmond is connected to central and West London by the district line, while overground links provide direct trains to North London.
