Residents of property in Wimbledon have needs met
People living in property in Wimbledon have been calling for an expansion of Wimbledon Chase Primary School - and now their requests have been met.
Merton Council has given its approval to the permanent provision of additional places at the institution, which would see the school's pupil numbers grow by more than 200 plus a nursery.
There has been increased demand for more school places in Wimbledon over the last few years and now the primary will be able to accommodate 630 youngsters - up 210 from the current 420 spaces available.
Yvette Stanley, Merton Council's director for children, schools and families, said that the moves to increase the capacity will "make a world of difference" to the community.
"Our priority is to ensure we have sufficient places in our schools for all those children in Merton who want one," she added.
Estate Agents in Wimbledon, as in other parts of London, often have to answer questions about local schools when they deal with potential customers.
