Residents of property in Clapham 'benefiting from partnership scheme'
A scheme aimed at improving the quality of life for residents of the London borough of Lambeth has been praised.
Lambeth First is a community partnership that exists to benefit those across the area, including those living in property in Clapham.
And it was recognised by the Local Government Chronicle, which gave the scheme first prize in its awards for Local Strategic Partnerships.
"We only make a really big difference if we all work together and this award recognises Lambeth's achievements in doing that," said councillor Steve Reed, chair of Lambeth First.
He added that the borough has shown it is "not afraid to confront the difficult issues", as it has tackled problems such as unemployment and violent crime.
Lambeth Council recently announced that £390,000 is to be made available for youth projects, with youngsters being invited to propose ideas for activities that they will ultimately be running themselves.
