Renters 'not expecting to buy'
Those looking for property to rent in London were told that one-third of tenants across the UK are not expecting to be able to ever afford to buy a home.
Data from Spareroom indicated that, of those who do believe they will eventually have the means to purchase their own house, 65 per cent think it will take them more than five years or at least until the next general election until it is a possibility.
However, more than three-quarters of respondents believe that house prices are likely to fall by more than five per cent over the coming year.
Incidentally, figures from three house price surveys by the Land Registry, Halifax and Nationwide all stated that house prices had increased by at least that amount since the summer of 2009, with the most recent being Halifax registering a 6.9 per cent rise.
News that many tenants do not feel they afford to buy a home may be of interest to people considering looking for property to rent in the London borough of Bromley or elsewhere in the country.
