Pets 'will have Christmas to remember'
Pets in the UK are set to have a Christmas to remember this year, as their owners prepare to spoil their furry friends.
According to research by Saga, despite the ongoing recession, many Britons are still planning to splash out on their cats, dogs and other pets this festive season.
Indeed, over a quarter of critters will be getting their own stocking and over half of owners will be buying them a special present.
And it is women who are set to be the most generous, with 56 per cent planning to gift their animal pals this year, compared to 48 per cent of men.
Meanwhile, seven per cent of Britons are even planning to have their pet specially groomed for the big festive day.
And rather than leftovers, the lucky cats and dogs of 18 per cent of owners will be getting turkey with all the trimmings.
Britons looking for flats to rent in Hammersmith or elsewhere in London may find that not taking on a mortgage leaves them with money to spare to lavish on their pets.
However, they may wish to check with their landlords first that they are allowed to keep animals in their new home.
