Olympics 'will leave transport legacy'
Londoners are set to benefit from improvements to transport as a result of the 2012 Olympics, it has been suggested.
A consultation has been launched to find the best way of helping those involved move around the capital and the Department for Transport has stated that the legacy left by the Games will include upgrades to junctions and improved traffic signalling.
Transport Minister Jim Fitzpatrick also revealed that a new Traffic Control Centre will be created as part of the Olympic Route Network, which will use existing roads to link the various venues.
"We are determined that the final Olympic Route Network will work for the Games and for Londoners as well as leaving a positive transport legacy in its wake," said Mr Fitzpatrick.
This week Olympics minister Tessa Jowell said that those living in the capital are set to benefit as a result of the Games, as it will lead to much-needed regeneration.
