Olympics on target to bring new jobs
Preparations for London's 2012 Olympic Games look to be on target in their efforts to regenerate several East London boroughs.
The host boroughs of Hackney, Waltham Forest, Newham, Tower Hamlets and Greenwich are likely to see a sharp increase in available employment, which will bring large amounts of people looking to rent in the area.
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA), which is responsible for building the Olympic Park in East London, is aiming to bring in up to 15 per cent of its workforce from the five host boroughs, which could see 11,000 jobs created.
A spokesman for ODA told the BBC: "It is being beaten at the moment through hard work and joined-up working, but it will become more challenging as the numbers of people working on site increases."
The ODA also said that the jobs it created would be sustainable and would include numerous training opportunities for local workers.
