New children's service available for those choosing flats to rent in Wimbledon
Those choosing flats to rent in Wimbledon will be able to benefit from the opening of a new children's centre, it has been announced.
Merton Council has revealed that a centre at Merton Abbey Primary School, in south Wimbledon, is one of eight being set up across the borough.
Residents with kids under the age of five will be able to visit Abbey Children's Centre for information and support, while a range of activities will be on offer.
Cabinet member for children's services at Merton Council Debbie Shears said: "We're committed to ensuring young children and families get the best possible start and the support they need to enable them to reach their full potential in life."
She added that "significant benefits" would be seen by the community, which includes those who have opted for flats to rent in Wimbledon.
A free day of activities is being held to celebrate the opening this Saturday (April 4th).
Last week, the local authority announced that it is planning a study of homes across the borough, in order to assess ways in which energy efficiency can be improved.
