Mortgages still 90% down on 2007
There is mixed news for potential house buyers looking to secure a home loan according to moneysupermarket.com.
Its data has revealed the number of available mortgage products for consumers to choose from has broken the 3,000 barrier for the first time since July 2009 when the market was at its lowest, an increase of 42 per cent.
However, people considering looking for property to rent in London were told that the figures remained 90 per cent down on the industry's peak of June 2007, when potential buyers could peruse through more than 28,000 offers.
This follows data from the Council of Mortgage Lenders showing that home loan lending fell back in April to £10.2 billion, the lowest figure of any April since the year 2000.
News that mortgage choice is still 90 per cent lower than at its peak may encourage more potential househunters to consider looking for property to rent in the London borough of Harrow or elsewhere in the country instead.
