More property to rent in London needed
More needs to be done to increase the levels of property to rent in Hammersmith - in addition to the rest of the UK - it has been claimed.
James Davis, chief executive officer of upad.co.uk, explained that this is mostly due to the fact that renting is becoming an increasingly popular choice for those looking for new accommodation.
He pointed out a number of reasons as to why this is the case, including social factors, such as people marrying later and the fact that there is a growing student population.
Finances may also be a reason people choose to rent, such as if they are paying off debt and need a cheaper alternative to buying.
In order to make more property to rent in London and the rest of the country available, Mr Davis suggested the government should make some changes to the system.
He said: "Tax incentives for example, [would help to increase] the quantity of private landlords [and] would make a far more fundamental difference."
This echoes sentiments expressed by the Town and Country Planning Association recently, which stated there needs to be more support for the private rental sector in order to meet demand.
