Millennium Quarter taking shape
A new residential neighbourhood a stone's throw from Canary Wharf could soon be a sought-after location for rental property-seekers in the capital.
The Millennium Quarter, a large area of land south of Canary Wharf in the Isle of Dogs, has been identified as a major hotspot for development plans, as Thames Gateway projects see the banks of the river come in for major regeneration.
Two major residential property projects from Imagine Homes, City Tower and Icon, are both well underway in the area and will soon see a selection of ultra-modern one and two bedroom apartments put up for rental.
The Millennium Quarter will also see shopping, open spaces and community facilities enhanced as more money is invested in the area over a 10-15 year period.
Rental property-seekers working in Canary Wharf or the City could be attracted by the developing area, as DLR connections are dotted across the Isle of Dogs, linking residents not only with the nearby Wharf but also with Bank, at the heart of the City.
Stretching from Tower Bridge out along the Thames into South Essex and North Kent, the Thames Gateway zone is the largest development corridor in London – and could rapidly transform many of the brown-field development spots in between.
